CYBORG RITUALS.

year 2024 • immersive installation

Cyborg rituals proposes attending a ceremony orchestrated by an AI, performed via videoconference simultaneously by two artists: Lola Rossi and Kris Hastings. This rite seeks to invoke a digital entity, through a ritual designed from an algorithm fed with data on cultural rituals from Norse mythology and 19th-century French occultism.

New types of rituals are emerging in our modern lives: guided meditation, virtual ceremonies, online spiritual retreats, digital funerals... These rituals provide important spaces for expressing community bonds and creating inclusive, activist, and fluid environments.

Throughout the performance, projections appear at multiple levels above the audience, resembling aggressive pop-ups reminiscent of net.art aesthetics. These intensify as the invocation of a "superior digital entity" progresses. The two artists, who have never met, aim to create and generate a new space for communication and exploration of the tensions between our emotions, intuitions, and non-human elements. The AI becomes a mediator, guide, and tool, enabling the transcendence of ancient practices to propose fluid, fragmented, and multifaceted approaches better suited to our post-modern cyborg identities.

The project was realized as part of the 2024 season of the City2City initiative, with the support of the Centre des Arts d'Enghien-les-Bains, a scene designated for Art and Creation, and the UNESCO Creative Cities network.

Synthetic States is an interdisciplinary research-creation project that aims to explore the potential of generative AI to produce non-ordinary states of consciousness.

métabolisme_

Ongoing project • sculptural installation

Métabolisme Metabolism is a sculptural installation animated by an AI, exploring the relationship between vitesse technologique et le temps organiquetechnological speed and organic time. It invites us to reimagine temporality through the notions of prédiction, hibernation et métabolisation.

By day, a translucent oval form seems to levitate in the outdoor space. Silently, it absorbs environmental data: light, temperature, electromagnetic waves, ambient sounds. Sunlight passes through it, casting ephemeral reflections on the ground that evolve over time.

The AI processes the collected data and manipulates an internal fluid hidden at its core, creating swirling shapes resembling clouds. These forms activate a phenomenon of pareidolia — the tendency to recognize familiar patterns in abstract shapes — inviting each viewer to project their own visions.

The installation thus becomes a meditative space, conducive to contemplation and to a slow sensory experience, akin to cloud-watching. ⸻

Specimens invented by an AI inspired by Blossfeldt take form in palladium prints, which confer upon them the aura of the archive.

Between trace and simulacrum, this herbarium questions proof and taxonomy when applied to the fictitious, in an era of ecological collapse.

Each 8×12 cm print — Latin name, number, fabrication notes — composes an imaginary archaeology of the vegetal. ⸻
